Realistic roller shutters




I started my fire station tonight and was trying to think for a good way to do the roller shutters, this is what i came up with, i used Bryan's open and closing door idea but i cut the door in to sections and hung it from the top, i used magnetic strips to beat the gravity problem. I hope you all like it

    Very clever idea. I'd struggled with the idea, and the only other way I had thought of was to do a hidden door in the foam like the arcade, and use sliding locks like the library elevator. Your way is A LOT easier and VERY effective.

      Thanks carl, i think rare earth magnets would be better, they are a lot stronger and easy to hide

      Thanks Bryan, try it with rare earth magnets, they will work a lot better, the strips were what i had on hand

      I'd treat opening or closing such a door the equivalent of firing a single gunshot. Mind you, some well oiled and well maintained shutter doors are very quiet. Ditto electronically operated doors. I guess it all depends on the establishment.
